Administrative
Adjustment of Scores
In order to allow
for occasional imprecise recollections of strokes taken on a hole and to obviate
the need for tedious recapitulations of play, any player who knows that he hit
more than six shots on a hole but cannot say with certainty whether he hit a total
of seven, eight, nine, or ten shall return a score of 7 on that hole, and any
player who loses track of his score or stops counting his strokes after hitting
at least seven shots during play of a hole shall score an 11 on that hole, even
if at the point his computation was discontinued he had not yet reached the green.
